LLA Market Report

Hello Folks~Thank goodness for cooler weather as we ended up with a whole lot of livestock on this week's auction!! Over 1400 head of cattle, nearly 1000 head of sheep, and we even threw a few horses in for good measure on this final sale for the month of August, and if the temperature had stayed up near that century mark like it was on Monday…..it would have been less than "fun". As it was, we managed to stay cool, sell a bunch of livestock, and now it will be two weeks and we'll be back with our next "all class cattle auction". Soooo….remember there is NO SALE next Tuesday on Sept. 2, but there will be a sale on Tuesday, Sept. 9th, and then we'll be back to selling on a weekly basis throughout the remainder of the fall. Now for the market report….the cow and bull trade is sharply lower compared to our Aug. 12th sale when that trade was the "hottest" it had been all summer, and with labor day just around the corner, I wouldn't be expecting to see an upward trend again anytime soon. Along with a big run of cows and bulls this week, we also saw a good offering of yearling feeder cattle, and compared with two weeks ago, that trade was looking to be 2-3 cents lower.
